Great to read about Ignition’s partnership with Moreland City Council. We perform in events mainly in the western suburbs of Melbourne & have also sung at the St Kilda Festival & the Cultural Festival for the Commonwealth Games in 1996 at an event called Sing for Water, which raised money for people in villages in East Timor to have clean water & sanitisation. On Saturday 13 August, we will be performing as part of a combined choir in Last Night of the Proms with another choir, SingWest, the Western Region Concert Band, the Victoria Police Pipe Band & special guest artist Gina Jeffries & her husband at Williamstown Town Hall. Talented hardworking solid community member but unemployed. Possibly because of cultural aversion to fat people or even because I look different and am not the desired norm, I am fat female and lacking a limb. I use Fitzroy pool regularly for exercise and am a community volunteer as well as an artist, with a great life experience but still unemployed. Is it ageism, social exclusion or xenophobia.
