Lesley Hall Arts and Disability Scholarship

The Lesley Hall Scholarship is an annual program for Victorian Deaf and Disabled artists and advocates. The scholarship prize is a $5,000 grant and support from Arts Access Victoria.

The program supports the winner in their artistic practice. It is expected that the winner, through their work, challenges assumptions about disability. Artists can be from a range of mediums including visual art, photography, poetry, writing, short film or a theatrical or dance piece.

Through this scholarship, we honour the activism and legacy of our late Board Chair Lesley Hall. Lesley was a tireless advocate for the human rights of disabled people. She became famous for protesting the Miss Australia Quest in 1981. And she influenced the formation of the NDIS, amongst many other achievements.
