Artist statement

This abstract work is open to interpretation by the viewer. This connects to the theme of ‘Beacon’ in that what offers hope and meaning for one person is different for another.

This work was created by dividing a large piece into 4 segments which represents the artist’s experience of feeling a fragmented sense of self.

The act of finishing an artwork and also participating in a community program offers this artist hope.

Claire has been making art for over 10 years and has a Diploma of visual art at CAE. She has a background in etching, painting and collagraphs. She is now exploring mixed media using drawing painting collage and embroidery.
