Louise Marson’s first solo exhibition Breath brings together three aspects of her creative practice.

Isolation, connection, and healing are explored in the dance between texture and space of mosaic patterns. As an emerging artist with a disability and mental health issues, Marson’s work speaks to her lived experience of disconnection, and investigates the impact COVID-19 has had on sense of community.
Marson’s tactile works hold a dialogue between the materials that has a labyrinth-like feel, exploring their fragile and complex intertwined ecologies. Do we cross from one passage to the other in the labyrinth? And what is that journey about?

The exhibition currently hung in the Studio Dax Gallery in Parkville will run until 18th December 2021. It is anticipated with the easing of restrictions, you to view and experience this exceptional exhibition in person.

“Lockdown has been a very difficult time for all but, an intrepid group of mosaic artists including Louise and myself met regularly mostly through Zoom but also in person to inspire each other and produce beautiful mosaic works.
Louise is a very talented artist who has overcome many challenges to produce the wonderful works which make up this exhibition. Christine has long been drawn to creative pursuits and has found making mosaics to be an absorbing activity. She enjoys depicting nature in her works and using materials that provide rich textures and colours, and has been making mosaics for 15+ years, twice studying mosaics in Italy. Christine is well known in public life for her role as Australia’s first woman police commissioner, when Victorian Police Commissioner (2001-2009). Since her retirement from policing she has held many prominent board positions and is a sought after mentor, speaker and consultant on women’s leadership.
