AAV Response to Australia Council Four-Year Funding Outcomes

The Australia Council for the Arts announced last Friday 3 April that “144 arts organisations will receive a share of $31.7M per annum in funding offered through the revised Four-Year Funding for Organisations program.”

From those 144 organisations, 95 (down from 128 in 2016) will receive four-year funding from 2021 to 2024. The other 49 organisations, which currently receive four-year funding but were not successful for the next program, will be provided with transitional funding for an additional 12 months.

In this time of crisis, Arts Access Victoria (AAV) is pleased to announce that we are among the 95 organisations that will continue to receive four-year funding from 2021 to 2024. We deeply thank the Australia Council for their support of our ambitious plan to put equality at the centre of the arts and redress barriers to arts and cultural engagement.

As a disability-led arts organisation since July 2018, we are committed to using this funding to raise the profile and visibility of the work of Deaf and Disabled artists. To create and hold space for their presence to be felt, acknowledged and embedded as innovators, influencers and internationally recognised artists and leaders.

Our thoughts are with those organisations, friends and partners, that very unfortunately were not successful in securing this critical core funding. We stand in solidarity and add our voice to the calls for additional government support.
