Tell us about this artwork.

This work has evolved over time and contemplation about my time I have spent involving Doctors and and a period of waiting and appointments. This art work has changed considerably over the years and doesn’t take a long time to produce it evolves over time of reflection and consideration. Colour has been experimented and it now features strongly in the themes of my work, colour is now extremely important as it reflects my way of dealing with my nature and an attempt to bring colour into my life.
My early works were quite dark and reflected my situation having experiencing coma accidents then a stroke and early psyche diagnosis, but now I have a sense of acceptance and try to move forward with things.

What do you like about this artwork?

I like the way my work now is free and colourful, it gives me hope and expression for what might come, my work is gestural and abstract with no exact meaning and it gives the viewer an opportunity to bring their own interpretation to my work.

How long have you been working in this style?

My work has evolved over the years and has changed reflecting times and experiences I have encountered. It is so much more colourful with a sense of contemplation and acceptance.

Another piece reflecting a feeling of freedom

Session 6 by Kellie Wood Acrylic on canvas 2022. Another piece reflecting a feeling of freedom.

What art are you working on right now?

At the moment I am not painting I am thinking about things […], I shall reflect and look forward to creating my next series of work.

What are you making next?

I don’t know what I will paint next, that is part of the joy I get from painting, I never plan how or what I am going to paint, my work reflects how I am dealing with things. What will come will come.

Do you have any comments or thoughts about your AAV program?

I have been working with my mentor from AAV Chris Barry for a number of years and her support and advice has been amazing. My work has grown and she has offered me great advice, I don’t think I would have had these last 2 exhibitions without her support. AAV is a fantastic organization and gives so much support.
